And the results are....

Well I decided to get Kaylin tested again for her milk allergy Hoping she would be over it so she could have cake and ice cream for her b-day. Well I got the results last week...and here they are...
They rate allergies on a scale from 1-5, 5 being the worst.

cats - 2
dogs - 3
egg whites - 4
cows milk - 4
peanuts - 3
soy - 2
wheat - 3

Okay...I was alright with the milk allergy. Its pretty easy to avoid, very annoying, but pretty easy. But now egg whites?!?! and Wheat and peanuts?!?! What the heck am I supposed to feed this child?!?! So now I'm working on what to transition her to after this last can of formula is gone (I'm very done spending $26 on a can of formula). Since she's allergic to soy, thats not an option. I'm thinking about oat milk. Its pretty cool because you can make it at home for pretty cheap. Her pediatrician has given me a referral to a nutritionist so hopefully they can help me out with what to feed her. Anyone have any experience with this?? Any advice would be great!

We have some of the same problems with our little one. We've never had her tested, but we should. She has allergies to Milk, and severe allergies to dogs. We have a couple more things that she has reacted too as well. I totally understand your frustration with allergies, it's hard when everyone else is feeding their child any thing, and you are having to be so careful. My dad found me this cookbook that would be so helpful for you, here is the link to a the site that explains it: http://www.sophiesafecooking.com/
Check it out, it makes you feel like someone else understands. I looked at ordering the cookbook, and you can find it on Amazon. Good luck!

Soy Milk. We never had a reason to have her tested because I breast fed until she was one and we just switched directly to milk. She swelled up and broke out in hives all over. It was scary. So, we tried soy milk and it worked. It's been a process of trial and error, meaning I've cleaned up a lot of throw up! She seems to also be allergic to melons, but those aren't things things that are hard to avoid. Another milk you could try is Rice Milk, it's not as thick as soy, and to me, it tastes better. It's kind of sweet. It's harder to find than soy milk though, but you can usually find it in the cereal aisle. One big thing I've always worried about is making sure she got enough vitamins and nutrients. She's definitely not lacking on the weight, she's a pretty thick kid, but I try to get her to eat any thing that's healthy. I've discovered that she like fruit and veggies, because she's limited in what she can have. It makes her a healthier kid. When she's old enough, I'd make sure you get her on a multi vitamin. You can get stuff for babies, but since my little one is 3 she takes the gummy vitamins. I would take advantage of the nutritionist, if just for the fact of good ideas on what to feed. I've had my days where I'm just overwhelmed at what to feed her, and we're only dealing with milk allergies, as far as we know... I should really have her tested.

BTW, if you ever have a reaction, it's smart to keep an allergy medicine on hand. You should have something with you at all times. I haven't had very good luck with Benadryl, but it's handy to have because they come in individual servings that you can just keep in your purse. My problem with Benadryl is that it doesn't work that fast, it works, but it's slow. I was recommended to use Zyrtec from my pediatrician, so I have that in her medicine box at home. I've had good success with it, it works fast and she doesn't mind the taste. Because of her allergies, I have a medicine box just for her, and I take it when I go out of town. With allergies, you just never know when you'll need it.

Feel free to email me any time, it's a frustrating thing to go through. I've gone through it all, feeling alone, that no one understands, the frustration. It's an on going battle. If anything, it's nice to know you have moral support! ☺

I can't believe this!! It's also scary when you are the babysitter. Cause you don't think about it all the time, just give the kid something to make them happy and QUIET! Not that I babysit all the time or that she ever is naughty. But as she gets older I bet it will get harder, cause she will see other kids eat stuff that she can't have or people will give her things she will be allergic to. Well I'm sorry this stinks for you. Man we all thought this was going to be over with. Sorry I am not any help in this subject!

I would definitely suggest hemp milk. Heather (Chantz's Mommy on the board) uses it and it is extremely healthy . . . full of the fat her brain needs, and other good stuff.
